What is the difference between PCB boards of different colors

The PCB circuit boards we often see have many colors. In fact, these colors are all made by printing different PCB solder resist inks. Common colors in PCB circuit board solder resist inks are green, black, red, blue, white, yellow, etc. Many people are curious, what is the difference between these circuit boards of different colors?
Whether it is a circuit board on an electrical appliance, a mobile phone motherboard or a computer motherboard, all use PCB circuit boards. From the appearance point of view, PCB circuit boards have various colors, green is more common, followed by blue, red, black, white and so on.
Boards with the same part number have the same function no matter what color they are. Boards of different colors indicate different colors of solder resist ink used. The main function of the solder resist ink is to place it on the solder resist layer to cover the wires for insulation and to prevent short circuits. Green is often seen, because everyone is used to using green solder resist ink to make circuit boards, and manufacturers of solder resist ink generally produce more green oil, and the cost will be lower than inks of other colors. , almost all in stock. Of course, some customers will also require other colors, such as black, red, yellow, etc., which need to be printed with solder resist inks of other colors.

The ink on the PCB circuit board, generally speaking, no matter what color the solder resist ink is, its effect is not much different. The main reason is the difference in vision. Except that white is used on the aluminum substrate and backlight, there will be a certain difference in light reflection, and other colors are used for soldering and insulation protection.
Solder resist inks of different colors are printed on the circuit board. Although there is not much difference in function, there are still some slight differences. First of all, it looks different. Subconsciously, I feel that black and blue are more high-end, and the requirements will be higher. However, circuit boards using green solder resist ink are too common, so they feel very ordinary. Many single-sided boards use green solder resist ink. Compared with the black one, it is not easy to see the line pattern, and the covering performance will be better, which can prevent the counterparts from copying the board to a certain extent. White reflects light better and is generally used for lighting or backlighting.
The solder resist ink used in most circuit boards is green, and the solder resist ink used in mobile phone flexible antenna boards is mainly black and white. The cable board and camera module board mostly use yellow solder resist ink, and the light strip board uses white or matte white solder resist ink.

Generally speaking, the color of solder resist ink used on the PCB mainly depends on the requirements of the customers of the circuit board factory. Print out the film. On flexible circuit boards, white solder resist inks are less resistant to bending than other colors.
There are also some solder resist inks on circuit boards with special colors. Many solder resist inks of this special color are formulated by ink manufacturers, and some are mixed with two solder resist inks in a certain proportion. Blend it out (in some large circuit board factories, the oil masters inside can color it)
No matter what color PCB solder resist ink is, it must have good printability and resolution, so as to meet the factory’s screen printing requirements and production requirements.
